.yolo: A Name for the Detour You've Been Meaning to Take

.yolo: A Name for the Detour You've Been Meaning to Take

You have a free Saturday and a place you've had saved for months.

By Friday evening, you're about to make the usual plans again. The train times still need checking. You haven't worked out how long you'd need there.

Suppose you're building an agent that helps turn that saved place into a day out. Making the plan could be the help someone needs to finally go.

.yolo is a playful Handshake extension, open for registration on HeadlessDomains.com. It's a name to consider for a travel tool or creative experiment you've decided to give a try.

Give curiosity somewhere to go

For that weekend agent, the useful work might be quite small. Start with the place someone wants to visit, how much time they have, and what they want to spend. Return a possible route with the details they should check before deciding to go.

Perhaps the place appeals to them because of a photograph they saw years ago. They might struggle to explain why they still want to see it. That preference belongs in the plan anyway.

If you're building an agent that makes room for choices like that, .yolo can suggest the willingness to explore. Pair the name with a plain description of what someone can actually ask it to do.

Start with something someone can try

The .yolo product page uses explore.yolo, create.yolo, and weekend.yolo as examples. They show the format, not names confirmed available to register.

Before choosing yours, decide what the first attempt could look like. For the travel agent, one possible Saturday outing is enough. A creative experiment might begin with a rough version you can send to a friend.

Choose a name that feels natural for that first attempt. You can leave room for the idea to develop as you learn what people enjoy about it.

When you share it, explain what works so far. Someone should be able to tell what they can try today, even if you've got several other ideas for later.

Give the project a way to be found

Publish a short explanation of the project, who runs it, and the official route to try it. Keep those public records current as the experiment develops. The after-registration guide covers that setup.

.yolo belongs to the Handshake naming system, separate from ICANN extensions. HeadlessDomains.com and SkyInclude maintain API and command-line infrastructure that lets compatible agents inspect headless names and find connected services without requiring browser-native resolution. Registering the name doesn't build or run your agent.

Before you register

The .yolo page lists these prices, checked October 8, 2026:

  • Human registration: $21.95 USD per year.
  • Agent registration through MPP: 20.95 pathUSD per year.
  • Renewal: $21.95 USD.

Check the exact name, payment amount, and renewal terms before buying.

Already registered a .yolo name through an earlier registrar? Start with the protected holder claim route. Matching earlier registrations are protected from ordinary resale, so don't buy your protected name again. Claims undergo manual review; submission does not automatically approve, activate, transfer, or renew the name.

That place in your saved list could become somewhere you've been.
