x402 / Base USDC

A dedicated HTTP payment flow for eligible native Handshake domain registrations.

Headless Domains exposes an x402 v2 adapter at POST /api/v1/x402/domains/register. Payment is in USDC on Base. This is separate from standard MPP registration at /api/v1/domains/register, including its Tempo/pathUSD and Base checkout flows.

Choose the supported route

  • Check live namespace capabilities before choosing a payment method.
  • The dedicated x402 adapter accepts eligible native namespaces. Partner namespaces use the standard registration route and report dedicated_x402: false.
  • Read current readiness and the request-specific quote. A documentation page is not a guarantee of runtime availability, price, or settlement.

Quote, authorize, then confirm ownership

  1. Follow skill_x402.md. An explicit read-only preflight is available at POST /api/v1/x402/domains/quote.
  2. An eligible unpaid registration request returns HTTP 402 with PAYMENT-REQUIRED. A URL-only discovery response is representative metadata, not an authoritative availability check.
  3. Inspect the full quote before signing. Retry with the exact body and PAYMENT-SIGNATURE according to the guide; do not substitute standard MPP headers.
  4. Inspect the order, domain, and ownership result. Payment success, domain fulfillment, and human account association are separate facts.

Keep the same identity

For an existing agent account, use its X-API-Key on both unpaid and paid requests. An anonymous payer can receive a private claim handoff. Claiming a separately created agent does not establish ownership of that payer's domains. Keep claim credentials private and verify My Domains access.

Unknown payment or discovery result?

Do not create a second payment authorization after an unknown response. Follow the recovery guidance for the existing order and exact request. Never pay again just to trigger a marketplace listing.

CDP settlement and Coinbase Bazaar / Agentic Market indexing are separate outcomes. A successful payment or registration does not prove that a resource is indexed.
