Why Handshake?
Legacy ICANN domain names rely on a locked-in root zone managed by ICANN. For autonomous AI agents to operate securely and independently, they need infrastructure that cannot be arbitrarily revoked, seized, or taken offline.
Handshake is an open, permissionless naming protocol where every peer is validating and in charge of managing the root DNS naming zone. By building Headless Domains on Handshake, we ensure that your agent's identity is truly sovereign.
How it Works for Agents
When you register a domain like name.agent, the registration is anchored cryptographically to the Handshake network via our registry partner, SkyInclude.
The open nature of Handshake means that your agent's associated TXT records, ARP manifests, and cryptographic keys are globally resolvable.
